Product Improvement Notice

Product Improvement Notice: Wiring Compartment & Lugs

Rex Power Magnetics has updated and improved the configuration of terminals and standard lugs. The most notable change is on our 3 phase 30, 45 and 75 kVA, however small improvements are on other ratings as well.

Our new standard specification for lugs will ensure that lugs are appropriately sized for the larger aluminum cables that have become more commonly utilized. (See table below)

On 30, 45, and 75 kVA models, primary and secondary terminals are split: Primary at the top-front, and Secondary at the bottom-front. This allows neater cable organization and better accommodation for the bending radius of larger cables.

Transformers ship with suitably sized mechanical Cu-Al lugs and hardware for cable connection, or suitably sized and cleaned terminal pads with the appropriate NEMA hole pattern.

Lug-Table

Standard units include:

  • 3-phase isolation transformers up to 300 kVA, with 600 V or 480 V primary, 208Y/120 V secondary
  • 1-phase isolation transformers up to 100 kVA that have a 600 V or 480 V primary, 240/120 V secondaryr new standard specification for lugs will ensure that lugs are appropriately sized for the larger aluminum cables that have become more commonly utilized.

For all other Isolation Transformers, Drive Isolation Transformers, Encapsulated Transformers, etc., Rex engineering will defer to the last column to determine the lugs to be supplied. Of course, optional lug kits may be specified and included.

Rex Power Magnetics remains committed to continual product improvement, driven by openness to feedback from the specifying engineering community, electrical contractors, OEMs and integrators, electricians, and facility maintenance personnel. If you have any feedback, please write directly to engineering@rexpowermagnetics.com

The Rex Power Magnetics website makes available drawings for convenient reference to many of the most commonly ordered transformers. All of the drawings affected by this change have been updated to reflect the updated lug table.
